Heavy Machinery Systems Design and Operation

Program Overview:

The use of Heavy Machinery is growing day after a day in the petroleum, construction, mining, quarry and road building industries worldwide especially in our Middle East countries to rebuild or update the existing infrastructure. Engineers who don’t have a solid understanding about different systems operation, testing, adjusting and maintaining heavy machineries will not have a good career opportunity in the future.

This program consists of two separate courses as follows:

Course 1: Applied Mechanical Power Engineering

Course 2: Heavy Machinery popular families

Participants can attend either course (which we recommend) or any of them. They should pass the given tests during each course to the instructor’s satisfaction. Certificates of successful attendance will be given by the end of each course.

Program Objectives:

After successful participation of this program contributors will be able to;

1)     Identify by shape and function the different families of heavy machinery.

2)     Identify different machines implements by function and operating system.

3)     Understand different machine systems:

The Program Four Modules:

1. Identify diesel engine components and their function, describe the following systems:
   1. Air intake and exhaust systems
   2. Lubrication system
   3. Cooling system
   4. Fuel system and governor
   5. Explain the operation of the Mechanical Unit Injector.
   6. Explain the operation of and identify components used in electronically controlled engines.
2. Understand different power train systems operations
   1. Direct drive
   2. Powershift
   3. Hydrostatic
   4. Electronically controlled transmissions.
3. Understanding the essentials of industrial hydraulics;
   1. Identify and state the function of the various valves used in hydraulic systems.
   2. Identify and state the function of vane pumps, gear pumps, and piston pumps,
   3. Identify and state the function of ISO hydraulic symbols and to trace the oil flow and state the operation of various hydraulic systems. Understand the basics of electronic controls on vehicular systems.
4. Review heavy machinery, main families (basic construction features and main function)
